So 'No' to private events in public parks

Let's keep up the pressure for a ban on private events in public parks which exclude members of the public.

At a recent Friends of Greenbank Park meeting, I challenged Labour Councillors to acknowledge that local people were not angry simply because they had not been informed of plans to hold a private event in the walled garden last summer, but because public space was being used for private interests.

It sets a worrying precedent when public spaces can simply be co-opted for private use by those who have power and influence with the council.
